Did you know the food you eat every day helps your body grow, think, run, play, and stay healthy?
Healthy food gives your body:

In this fun science lesson for kids, we’ll explore the five main healthy food groups and learn how each one helps our bodies!
🍎 What Is Healthy Food?
Healthy food contains important nutrients that help your body function properly.
Nutrients include:
- vitamins
- minerals
- protein
- fiber
- healthy fats
- carbohydrates
Eating a balanced diet helps children:

✅ stay active
✅ focus better in school
✅ build strong immunity
✅ stay healthy long-term
🥗 The 5 Healthy Food Groups
The five main healthy food groups are:
🍎 Fruits
🥦 Vegetables
🌾 Cereals & Pulses
🥛 Dairy
🍗 Poultry, Fish & Meat
These food groups help our bodies in different ways.
🍎 Fruits — Nature’s Healthy Treat
Fruits are packed with:
- vitamins
- antioxidants
- fiber
- natural sugars
Eating fruits regularly may help:

🧠 improve brain function
🛡️ strengthen immunity
Some fruits also contain antioxidants that help protect cells from damage.
Research from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health shows that eating fruits and vegetables daily supports long-term health.
